With the adoption of a brand new tourism strategy and two important moves, June has been a month of massive change and exciting new adventures for us here at Saldanha Bay Tourism Organisation.
Amid wild storms and much-needed rainfall, we’ve been settling into our brand new offices in the beautifully renovated Old Station Building on Vredenburg Main Road.
Apart from being a tourist information centre and a hub for sharing community news, events and activities, our offices are also home to an internet café and a sweet little shop stocking locally-produced merchandise for anyone in search of West Coast souvenirs.
Simultaneously we’ve also 'moved house' in cyberspace with the launch of our brand new website – yes the one you're on right now!
In an effort to encourage people from near and far to come #visitWestCoast, this new online space will be jam-packed with inspiring travel tales, gorgeous photographs, exciting event listings and loads of information about the area's restaurants, accommodation and activities.
"Our communities and people of the West Coast are our biggest asset," says Vallerie Murphy, Chairperson of the Board.
"We realise that the web and social media have made it possible for smaller destinations to compete with well-known destinations, but to stand out a more thoughtful and focused approach to digital marketing, using our people to help promote the region, complemented with thumb-stopping content and visual storytelling are required. We are confident that the new strategy, visitor centre and refreshed website will boost tourism in the West Coast Peninsula," added Murphy.
To help launch us into this new journey, we've invited 7 online influencers and members of the media to experience the West Coast's famous hospitality for three days between 29 June and 1 July. Follow the along by typing #visitWestCoast into Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and see what adventures our guests get up to.
We hope this inspires you to come #visitWestCoast soon too!
